7/B – Winged oyster - Pteria hirundo

A bivalve that lives on hard beds, often epibiontic on the Paramuricea. Its shell, with thin scales that represent growth stripes, has some extensions that resemble swallow tails, which give it its common name “winged oyster”. The outside color is reddish brown, and inside there is a thin layer of mother of pearl.
